Happy Halloween

Happy Halloween everyone! I hope that you are having a fun and eventful Halloween evening. Damon and I are enjoying our home and handing our candy to all the kids in suburbia-land. In our years together, we have never been home on Halloween. I either had class or he has been hunting...so, this year we were excited to hand out candy. Plus the vodka cranberry drinks are making it even more fun! Here are some pictures of Kris's house decorated for fall:

They Say that Opposites Attract...

and whoever "they" is, must be right.

Unless you live with your head in the sand, you are aware of the very important election that our fine nation is in the midst of. I try to stay as politically neutral as possible. Sure, I have opinions, but I am not one to put my opinions and beliefs upon others. I try to see both sides of the story and realize that people are entitled to their own opinion.

With that in mind, I knew that Damon completed his ballot...he needed a stamp. And I just mailed in my ballot this past weekend. We talk about politics together on a high level, but not on the level of what is your position on XYZ? In fact, I didn't really even know who Damon voted for President...so, I coyly asked him. Without disclosing any of our votes, I will just say that we voted the COMPLETE opposite of one another. For President. For Measure Q. For Prop 2. For Prop 8...the lists goes on.

I guess that whoever said that opposites attract is certainly right! And will we have to see which better half wins next week :)

Articles in The Press Democrat the last two days have stayed in my head long after I read the last word. The first article is about a former classmate of mine at Urusline/Newman. It is a touching article. My heart goes out to him for the suffering he has endured and I am truly impressed and empowered by his recent successes.

The second article was from this mornings paper. I have written about this man previously, Dr. McCarthy. My sister and I went to grade school with his sons, Morgan and Justin belong to his church and my dad just played in a memorial golf tournament for his brother. But, most importantly, he was the specialist I was referred to for my cervical cancer ordeal. He treated me with more compassion that I thought was possible for a doctor, he comforted my mother and my finance who waited for me in the waiting room and he instilled confidence in me about preventing it from ever returning. He passed away yesterday, from brain cancer at the age of 60. I know that he touched the hearts of many many community members, and for that, we will all always be grateful.

Dinner with Darcy

Darcy, my oldest friend that I am still friends with, was in town for a brief moment this past week which was great. But, it was also great because she brought her boyfriend, Tom, with her. He is a gem. Of course, when we all get together it is like we were never apart...that is what I love about my girlfriends. Darcy and Tom currently live in Boston, but they are planning on moving to Petaluma in the springtime. I am looking forward to having yet another girlfriend closer to me! Here we are during a great dinner at Chevy's...thanks to Ryan (Mer's date) for taking the picture, since my camera was with Damon in Colorado.

Meet Mr. and Mrs. Lockwood

On Saturday I attended Kayla and Tim Lockwood's wedding...it started with a ceremony at the Mary Agatha Furth Catholic Church and ended with a fun backyard reception. The flowers and colors were beautiful and embodied the fall season. Despite the long photo post, I didn't really take that many pictures...I was too busy hanging with Casen and Trenton! Both Michelle and Damon were both out of town for the wedding, so Randy and I sat together and even fooled a few people who thought that Randy might have swapped out Michelle. Kayla was a beautiful bride, their ceremony was the perfect length and they looked oh so happy together. I just love weddings, there is nothing better than being surrounded by love!
