Christmas Eve Celebrations

Today is the last day of the last, I have mixed emotions about it. It was a rough year, but a good year at the same time, but I am super excited and just plain ready for a new year and a new decade. Damon and I left work early today, ran a few errands, tried to buy some more furniture for the house (we were unsuccessful - I swear I love my husband, but he has lots of opinions on household items), had lunch and drove home. This entire week we have carpooled together and Damon really likes me to chauffeur him around. As we were leaving Railroad Square I asked if he wanted me to drive me and he said yes. After about one mile on the freeway the traffic was stopping ahead and I had to slow down real quickly. I immediately looked in my rear view mirror and said "I don't think that car is slowing down." Well he did BUT the car behind him didn't and we had a major three car pile up on the freeway. So much that a CHP had to literally stop traffic on the freeway to clear the third car off the road and move it from the fast lane to the off-ramp since it was undriveable. The poor prius in the middle of the smash up was pretty beat up and the two young girls inside were a wreck. One of them had a bloody lip, their poor father was quite a wreck as well. The crazy part, besides a bruised knee and headaches, Damon and I sustained NO damage. If we were in my little car, different story. So thankful for big vehicles and for being okay. I think that we are still a little shook up. I have never been in an accident before and I didn't really like it. Anyways, sorry for the rant, here are the pictures from Christmas Eve.
I was really sick at the beginning of last week, I didn't feel good at all. It was a struggle to get through the days at work and I had so much to do at home. Thankfully I was able to pawn off my to do list to Damon and my sister and Geoff (who were staying with us), and I had to cancel some holiday plans that I was super bummed about. But, the good news was that after a really good night sleep on Wednesday, I woke up with energy and a decreased flu/cold on Thursday. After getting a few items complete around the house, I headed to Santa Rosa to meet Miss Morgan and Darcy for a quick lunch to celebrate Miss Morgan's 28th birthday. I love celebrating her birthday, we have been doing that for so long. (You can read a recap of the ways we have celebrated here.) Then I can home to finish getting ready for the Christmas Eve festivities at our house. Usually we head over to Calistoga for the celebration, but this year Damon and I hosted and there were 47 people at our house! Whoohoo - it was a blast!
Here is a pictures of my Christmas stairs...well, actually my mom's Christmas stairs. She started using then about 15 years ago and now I borrow them :)

Before the droves of relatives came through the door, we exchanged some family gifts and took some photos. Isn't my sister and her 7 month belly adorable?

My sister gave my mom and grandma some picture frames and fresh pictures of the little one...
I didn't take many pictures during the celebration - I was too busy hostessing! But here are my hubby's staple dessert that I make him.

I did however, take a picture of the plethora of alcohol - whoohoo!

Miss Ryanne and Leana came over to say hello and I let Ryanne open on of her many presents from Damon and I. It was perfect since she came dressed for her gift as the best looking little Snow White ever!

I did manage to take a few pictures of the latest addition to the family, little Brianna, who loved her grandpa, my Uncle Mark, play with her. She was soooo content upside down, so cute!

Damon and I walked into one of the rooms and saw the little cousins all crowded around their parents iphone playing games. :)

Brianna is getting big and is working on her tummy time sessions. These were taken in our garage, where we moved our old kitchen table for family "spillover."

Meeting Miss Shasta (who was, surprisingly very nervous with all the new faces and smells in our house. The good part about that was that she was a complete angel in her garage kennel.)

Alicia and Geoff bought Damon a hunting game (that you don't need a game console to play). The boys had a good time with that :) It is just like the game we played while on the Cotati bar crawl celebrating my master's degree, here.

My mom and dad brought Shasta Christmas stocking, so once the guests were gone she had her own little party and was very excited to get her toys out of the stocking!

My little family...

One of my goals this weekend is to get caught up on blog posts...come back soon to visit!

Christmas Decorations

Here are a few photos of our Christmas tree this year. We decided to use my parents non-real tree and it was a great decision. It looks great and it is so nice that we don't have to worry about turning off the lights if we leave the house (love that!) Here are a few of our ornaments...

I purchased these in San Diego with my sister and mom (I love how ornaments have individual stories and memories behind each one.)

Amongst the traditional ornaments, we have lots of black lab ornaments and hunting related items :)

Having fun with un-focusing with my macro lens...

Again, more holiday decorations mixed with hunting decorations - aren't a great wife for Damon?

More later!

Christmas Light Tour

I hope that everyone had a great Christmas celebration, I have way too many photos to post, so expect them over the next few days/weeks. Last Monday, the Straubs came over for our annual Christmas dinner and light tour. I wasn't feeling too well, so we didn't stay out too late, but we did see a few great houses. Here is the crazy house in Rohnert Park that is all over the bay area news station. It is a little intense and might be a little much for me.

This Grinch stole a Christmas tree and the tree moved up and down in the bag. I swear the blow-up decorations get better and more inventive every year!
