We were the coveted class of 2000. The first of the "new millennium." We had our futures in front of us. We successfully completed four years of college prep classes. We broke hearts, we had our hearts broken. We made friends, we lost friends, we found life long friends. We promised to never wore white or blue polo shirts and khaki pants again in our lives. We were graduates of Ursuline High School nine years ago today.

Today is a date that is always with me...in fact, it is engraved in the inside of my diamond high school graduation ring from my parents that I wear on my right hand. "05-27-00 Love M&D." (Today is also Lisa F's birthday...happy birthday Lisa!) Those who are close to me know how much my high school days meant to me, they truly defined me. My father was the last person in the world who thought he was going to pay for both of his daughters to attend a Catholic school. Religion did not play a big part in my childhood, but education was always the forefront. My sister asked to be transferred from Healdsburg High School and attend Ursuline, she was accepted and transferred as a Sophomore. Three years later it was my turn. My parents let me make the decision all on my own. I could have been the second graduating class of the newly formed Windsor High School or I could join 100 girls from 20 different middle schools at Ursuline. It was a hard decision and one that I did not take lightly. It was one of the best decisions in my life. Personally, I feel that the sacrifices my parents made for me was worth more in terms of my education than the four years that followed at Chico or the three years of grad school at Sonoma.
The next value of Ursuline after the education, is the friends I made, and those friends that I kept. I feel blessed to look at the following picture and know that I have talked with each of the 6 girls within the last month. I am proud that we all "turned out okay" and really did make something with our lives nine years after pledging to make a difference and carry the legacy of the class of 2000.
Here is an update on the 7 girls, from left to right:
Lisa Figlietti: Living in San Francisco, recently engaged to Cardinal Newman alum Scott Shapiro and completing her last few weeks student teaching.
Brianna (Riolo) Anderson: Living in Scottsdale, married for 6 years with two adorable children and assisting little babies in the NICU department.
Dana (Whitfield) Quinn: Living in Coarsegold, married for 4 years to her college sweetheart and airline pilot, and doing what Dana does best, being a mother to little Lily and working as a sales rep.
Meredith Crotty: Living in Santa Rosa and living life to the fullest, enjoying time with her niece and embarking on a new career, outside of the wine industry, at Emotive, an experiential marketing firm based at Sears Point working with Nascar, Jim Russel Racing and the Audi experience. (I could not think of a better place for Meredith, and her own motorcycle, to work!)
Darcy Kunkel: Living in Santa Rosa (whooohooo, she just moved back from a stint in New York and Boston) with her beau Tom (a Boston transplant) and recently signed a job offer at Kaiser Santa Rosa working in the cardiac wing.
Me (yes, that is me with the tan skin and the highlighted hair...not sure what my parents were thinking letting their daughter work at a tanning/hair salon where services were free!)
Morgan (Beerbohm) Langlois: Living in Santa Rosa with her pilot husband of almost 2 years and just finishing up her 3 year teaching kindergarten in the Rincon Valley School District
I love how different, yet how similar we all look.
My absolute favorite candid picture from the various graduation ceremonies (I think we had two weeks worth of awards ceremonies, special lunches and tributes) is below. The day these pictures were taken were from the Senior awards ceremony.
If only I could remember what we were all saying to one another. Thanks mom and dad for making all of the above possible and thank you my friends for being you. Looking forward to future memories together!
xoxo
